Mold is more typically found in warmer climates, such as Florida or Texas where the humidity can get very high, but mold can really be found anywhere as long as it has the essentials it needs in order to grow and survive. It is most often found in cracks or other moist places. Black mold needs a dark place, a nice temperature, and moisture in order to grow, which is why this type of mold usually looks wet and shiny. This kind of mold is usually found in a house or other building. When the mold spores land on something that is moist the spores will continue to multiply and grow into a mold.
The best places to find mold is around pipes, walls, potted plants, sinks, or anywhere else that may have some water damage, like a leaky roof, or a bathroom. Anywhere where they may be pipes is an area that is common to mold because any water leaks can go unnoticed for weeks or even months before they are found. Wood is especially good for finding mold on because it can easily get wet and stay warm. Mold can also be found behind walls, underneath your floorboards, or in basements or attics. This is because these places can also harbor a lot of dirt, which gives mold the nutrients that it needs to continue to grow.
